McGilligan-Ward, Elaine

Age 75 of Horseheads, NY. She was born August 3, 1945 in North Tarrytown, NY, the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Lovett) McGilligan and passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. In addition to her parents Elaine was predeceased by her loving husband of 37 years, Ralston Michael Ward, in 2003; along with 2 of her brothers and one sister. She is survived by her son Michael R. Ward Jr. and his wife Christina Gilbert of Yorktown, VA; daughter Christina Ward of Sunrise, FL; grandchildren Austin & Ethan Hendrickx; and sisters Patricia Flynn and Carol Ann Ogelsby; along with her extended family and friends. Elaine will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked as a 5th grade teacher’s aide in Math, yet gave up her career to dedicate her time to care for her husband and family. After Mike’s passing Elaine enjoyed her independence, finding joy in her gardening, reading, puzzles, and birdwatching.

Private services will be held with family; Elaine will be reunited with Mike and laid to rest in Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association by clicking here
