During her time in Washington she met a young man who was attached to the White House in the US Army Signal Corps. After his hitch was up, they returned to Houghton College to finish his education, and afterwards settled in Elmira, NY and started their family.
She would later put her sewing skills to good use at Iva Ripley Sewing and also enjoyed many years as a representative for Creative Expressions. At age 50, she was persuaded to attend Elmira Business Institute. She graduated with honors whereupon she was employed by Bethany Manor in the Medical Records Department and retired from there a decade later.
